OIS is an intensive training and certification program designed to teach positive behavior support and safe intervention strategies for addressing behaviors that require intervention across a variety of settings.
This two day workshop is open to anyone seeking to learn practical person centered strategies for prevention, de escalation, and safety when responding to challenging behaviors in home, workplace, educational, healthcare, or community environments.
Participants will learn how to understand the function of behavior, implement positive supports, and safely respond in situations where intervention may be necessary.
The OIS workshop including PowerPoint materials, workshop documents, and physical skills instruction is presented in English.
Eligible participants such as foster care staff, personal support workers, family members, or Behavior Professionals completing the workshop for BP certification who require interpretation services including ASL or spoken language interpretation must notify the instructor at least two weeks prior to the scheduled workshop in order to request interpreter services through ODDS when applicable. Requests for interpreter services through ODDS are not guaranteed and are subject to availability.
All other participants are responsible for arranging their own interpreter services. In most cases this responsibility falls to the participant’s employing agency or organization.
This class is open to anyone.
This workshop may be canceled due to insufficient registration.
Late arrivals will be admitted no later than 15 minutes after the scheduled class start time.
Refunds or credits will only be provided with at least two weeks notice or if a replacement participant is found.
